APPLE- MacBook Pro 2011

The new 2011 range of Apple’s MacBook Pro’s are now official, so we thought we would take a look at the full specifications of the new MacBook Pro’s to see how the compare to last years models.
There are quite a few changes from the previous versions of the MacBook Pro, with two separate 13 inch models available, two 15 inch models and one 17 inch model
MacBook Pro is machined from a single piece of aluminum, an engineering breakthrough that replaced many parts with just one. It’s called the unibody. And the first time you pick up a MacBook Pro you’ll notice the difference it makes. The entire enclosure is thinner and lighter than other notebooks. It looks polished and refined. And it feels strong and durable — perfect for life inside (and outside) your briefcase or backpack.
Complete control over how the MacBook Pro is designed, how it’s manufactured, and how it’s packaged gives Apple an environmental edge. LED backlight technology preserves energy. Glass and aluminum are highly recyclable. MacBook Pro is free of most harmful toxins. And the 17-inch model ships in packaging that’s 34 percent smaller than the original, while the packaging for the 13-inch model is 41 percent smaller. That means fewer trees used for boxes and fewer planes, trains, and trucks used for transport.

Pros
➛ looks great (in my opinion)
➛ glass screen, looks sharp and you can touch it.
➛ LED back lit screen, which is very bright, and can darken automatically in dimly lit rooms
➛ very energy efficient and long battery life
➛ two graphics processors. It uses the lowend card to save battery life, and turns on the highend card when it needs to (for 3d games and the like)
➛ Intel Core i5 is a very new, high end, and powerful processor. The only processor that's better than it today is the Intel Core i7, which is too intense for laptops anyway. The chips have 32-nanometer transistors - the smallest of any available CPU. Smaller transistors means it can fit more power in less space, while using less energy.
➛ can run all software: you are not limited to Windows-only, Mac-only, or Linux-only applications. You can run every major operating system on one computer, at the same time if you like.
➛ High resale value: I think this one is a big deal. This Macbook Pro might be the most top of the line laptop right now, but it won't be forever. If you want a new computer in one year or a few years from now, you can sell this one and get most of your money back. No other brand of computer holds resale value as well as Apple. If Apple comes out with newer Macbook Pros that look nicer to you, selling your current Macbook Pro and getting the brand new one will only cost a couple hundred dollars. If you repeat this every year, you can always have a top of the line computer for very little money after the initial investment.
➛ you can surf the internet right away without worrying about viruses or installing security programs.
➛ comes with a lot of amazing free software including iLife.
➛ the touchpad is amazing once you get use to it. It's made out of glass and can do multi-touch gestures (like an iphone). You can set to scroll when moving two fingers on it, and "right click" when you tap it with two fingers.
➛ makes it easy to use special characters like
Cons
➛ you don't like how it looks
➛ Other laptops are cheaper (but don't have much resale value.)
➛ You have to install Windows yourself, if you want to play certain PC games, run AutoCAD, or other Windows only programs.
You have to download everything in mac version (ex. have to find and download msn mac version, microsoft office mac, everything in mac. however, if u are one of people who uses auto then do not get macbook cuz autocad is only available on pc,windows or whatever- they dont have autocad mac version.

Other thoughts:
I don't think having to download mac versions of programs is a con. After all, you have to download programs designed for Windows on Windows computers, and same thing for Linux or any other OS. From my experience, mac programs are usually better than their windows equivalents, and there are free mac programs online to do just about anything however, there are very limited programs for mac as compared to those of windows.
